Where could we finish?
|
Half way through the season at 32 points. If we match the first half and finish on 64 that would have been enough for Champions League football last season ( finish would be fifth).
Where can West Ham hope to end the season?

Contrary to my usual practice, I'm going to stick my neck out.
We're not going down.

I won’t relax until we get to that magic 37 points. This is West Ham, anything could happen?

If we had a decent squad to cover for injuries we could be top 6. But there's no way rice soucek antonio Cresswell are all going to be fit all season. We don't have cover for them and when we pick up injuries we'll struggle.
Plus a twenty point penalty for the snodgrass fiasco tonight

20 points might be a bit harsh 😄

Anything is possible at this stage of the season. What will happen is hard to guess due to this being West Ham.

I'd like us to reach 60 points this season, but it won't be easy. Surpassing our Premier League points record of 64 would be an unbelievable season.
At this stage I think we will get between 55-60 points and will finish 7th-11th.
Top half should be a minimal target from here.

I think the season and the amount of games being played in a shorter period of time will take its toll on our squad. If our owners sanctioned a few signings i would be more optimistic. End of Feb and March fixtures are going to be tough, i reckon 8th place finish which is great progress from last season.

With the uneven distribution of matches played, a little harder to determine our current true position, by just looking at the league table.
Everybody above us, bar Leicester have games in hand on us. Below us Southampton and Villa (4 in Villa's case). Also Arsenal below us, have hit form.
8th - 10th finish.
Mind you, I predicted 19th, before a ball was kicked.

depends on injuries.....fully fit squad then best of the rest in 7th. Finishing above Everton Villa Chelsea and Arsenal would be very impressive
few injuries and 10-12th

Isn't the mean a single figure not a range?
Current position seems too good to be true and would require investment to maintain never mind improve upon 11th for me.

Lets not get too excited. An injury to Soucek, Ogbonna or another one for Antonio and we're going to fucking plummet.

Even though we are 7 points off top, I'll be happy to speculate when we have 40 points on the board

Re: Where could we finish?

Yes, obviously it all depends on injuries. But looking at it this way -
There's no way we're going to finish above: Liverpool Man City Tottenham Man Utd
We would have to do exceedingly well to finish above: Chelsea Leicester
Which leaves us scrapping with the likes of: Arsenal (currently 5 points ahead of them) Everton (wouldn't it be good to finish above those c*nts!) Southampton (can't see them staying where they are now) Villa (currently 6 points behind but 4 games in hand).
So to sum it up, 5th or 6th would be absolutely exceptional. 7th to 10th is definitely achievable, most likely 8th behind Arsenal or 9th behind Everton.
